Conducted by Lawrence Killian, Orchestra of Square Chapel rehearse and perform at Square Chapel Centre for the Arts, Halifax, West Yorkshire. This venue combines an intimate atmosphere, giving audiences a real feel for the live music, with one of the best acoustics in the area. The Orchestra welcomes local musicians who are ambitious and can perform to a high standard. String players are particularly welcome. The Orchestra rehearse and perform on Sundays—this allows busy players to fit the Orchestra in round other commitments. Generally there are three half-day rehearsals, the third one being followed by an evening concert. This intensive way of working keeps even the best players on their toes. The Orchestra’s aim is to explore and perform small-scale orchestral music to the highest possible standard.
